Most Satnavs will try and direct you to us via long and winding country lanes, not great when you're towing or driving a motorhome!
We suggest you follow our directions, which will keep you on good main roads.
From the M5
This route from the M5 will take you about an hour and a quarter.
From M5 Junction 27, take the A361 towards Barnstable.
- Follow this road for 30 miles; crossing 5 roundabouts:
- The first of these three roundabouts is at Tiverton where the road changes from a dual carriageway to single carriageway (keep straight ahead).
- The second is at Bishmill Gate, South Molton (keep straight ahead).
- The third is the oval shapped roundabout at SouthMolton. Keep straigh ahead.
- The forth is North Aller Roundabout. DO NOT TURN RIGHT HERE, keep straight ahead towards Barnstaple.
- The fifth roundabout you come to will have 2 exits. Take the second exit (straight over) towards Barnstaple Bideford, Bude (A39) & Ilfracombe A361.
- The next roundabout will have 2 exits. Take the first exit towards Bideford, Bude (A39) & Ilfracombe A361.
- Go straight over the next roundabout (Bishops Tawton Junction) and over the Rumsam Bridge, which is crossing the River Taw.
- The next roundabout is Lake Roundabout, take the second exit here (right) towards Barnstable & Ilfracombe, still on to the A361.
- You'll shortly arrive at Sticklepath Junction (Known as Barn-Henge to the locals), go straight over; staying on the A361 towards Ilfracombe.
- You'll now be going over Taw Bridge, which crosses the Taw Estuary.
- At the first set of traffic lights, go straight ahead, towards the T junction (200-300 metres ahead)
- At the T junction - Braunton Road Junction - take the left, towards Ilfracombe & Braunton, again staying on the A361.
- 200m metres further ahead will be a set of traffic lights, go straight over here towards Braunton.
- Keep on this road for 3 miles, and over the small roundabout at Chivenor Cross (second exit).
- 300 metres ahead is another small roundabout. Straight over here (second exit).
- 1 mile ahead is a small roundabout as you enter Braunton. Take the second exit (straight over) towards Ilfracombe (A361).
- Half a mile ahead is the main crossroads in Braunton, go straight over at these traffic lights towards Ilfracombe. Although you might sit in traffic here, this is still the best route.
- Keep on this road for 1 mile and you will pass through Knowle village.
- Again, keep on this road for 2 miles, and you'll then see Hidden Valley on the left-hand side.

Ideal for visits to this area, bus stop outside. Bar and restaurant on site, very reasonable price. Small shop. Set in a small valley with a stream running through site.

Just returned home from a 5 night stay. Very happy. The medium pitch was very roomy with power and tv aerial point. Toilets very clean with hot proper showers - not the ones where you press a button for 30 seconds of spray. Very convenient for Ilfracombe and nearby sandy beaches.
