“fab fab fab!!

This site is amazing ,clean, peaceful, and beautiful.the warden greeted us on arrival and took us to our pitch which was more than big enough and as it was a serviced pitch it had elec a shared tap and a tv Ariel [the lead was hired for 50p per day].they gave us lots of info on the local area and places to eat they were really helpful.the toilet and shower block was immaculate and yipeee power showers ,all public areas were in top condition .were new to camping this yr and have been 5 times all to so called 5star sites but by far this was the best .
the position is great about 5 miles to woolacombe and 5 to ilfracombe where there is fab beaches and places to eat. smugglers in ilfracombe harbour is the best.all the staff in particular the summer wardens who went home a few days into our stay are really helpful and nothing was too much trouble.finally the owners are a family who obviously love camping and this really shows and seem to have made real progress with the site well done.see you again”  T

“Stayed for a week in August and absolutely loved it!!!!

The site is Family run and they really are accomodating. The showers and toilet blocks were very clean and the laundry facilities. Our pitch was a great size and near the stream. The cooked breakfast was delicious on the morning of our departure.A must stay and we are returning in October.... Thanks to all for a Great stay.”  September 2011

“Great site, lovely staff.....very accommodating, we will be going back to enjoy it again:)

We stayed in August with our 2 children aged 10 and 8 and we all loved the place. It felt safe and was nice and quiet, especially at night and in the morning, which was lovely. We loved the facilities which were very clean and well looked after, the wardens did a great job. We had one hic up which was unavoidable, our shower block had no hot water as the old boiler broke down...on a bank holiday weekend! The staff did their level best to fix it...managed to get a plumber who said the whole thing needed replacing....It is fair to say the staff did their best. In the mean time we could use the showers in the second part of the site, which worked just as well and we were offered free nights accommodation as recompense for the inconvenience caused. Overall the site is very family friendly, the owners were great and the staff very helpful. It is near the surfing beaches (by car or regular bus). A great holiday was had by all....we will be going back soon.”  Mariam Lester, September 2011

"What an excellent site,

staff always friendly and polite, beautiful area and extremely quiet,so much to do close by, we will be returning in April next year, our 6 year old loved the top play area especially the zip wire, a Bar-B-Que was held by the staff as a meet and greet the staff, Excellent idea as it was our last night we did'nt have to cook....Brilliant, out of 10 for the site we give you 11.”  Alan & Sam Kennett, August 2011

"Clean site,friendly helpful staff.

Great location on bus route and near bike trails.Restaurant good idea for breakfast.Stunning valley location and walks round site. Will be going again next year.”  Christine Gayford, September 2011

"We spent 11 nights at Hidden Valley

with our children aged 7 & 4. The site is very clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We felt it was very safe for the children, it would be our first choice if we were returning to north Devon.”  K Wagstaff, Setember 2011

“Lovely sheltered site with excellent facilities.

Staff very helpful & friendly and a good well stocked shop.
Pitches kept immaculate.
Well located for all local areas, Ebrington Arms pub is a must and you can take the dog, and it has a fab games room for the children.
Will be returning to this site another year, it is a little more expensive than other sites but the facilites are well worth it and the staff are very committed into keeping the site immaculate.”  Irene Keal, August 2011

“A pleasant site with polite and friendly staff,

nice play areas for the children with basic, but adventurous equipment (great zip wires), and a lovely stream and woodland walk to explore.”  Vickey Watts, September 2011

“We have just spent a most enjoyable week.

Right from the booking in and personal guidance to our pitch, which after a fairly long journey was most welcome, to leaving the service from the friendly and helpful staff was superb. The site is well run with clean facilities. The premier pitches well worth the extra cost. The location very convenient with buses right outside. All buses allow dogs so with a motor home this meant we could still get around and not worry about moving .There is also a bus that allows bikes to travel- handy for the Tarka Trail.A big thankyou we will return !!”  Pete & Jenny, September 2011

“Beautiful site. Facilities were excellent.

We stayed in Kingfisher Meadow which was very flat and the pitches were well spaced out. The site were very accommodating to us pitching beside our friends, even though we arrived on different days.
Each pitch has it's own tap, which was excellent

The staff at the sight were all very friendly and appeared to keep a tight ship. The site was immaculate and facilities very clean.
Our only negative is the children's playground in Kingfisher Meadow. This is in the woods up a steep, muddy bank. It had rained a lot prior to our arrival and the children got filthy. It is also out of sight.

The location of the site is perfect for many lovely beaches. However, Braunton seems to be quite a bottle-neck if you have to drive through it so be prepared to be so close but still have 20 minutes to go to get to the site if you have to go through that way.
All in all, we would certainly return again.”  Mrs. Kell, August 2011

“A lovely site in a great location

prettily situated next to a pine plantation. Easy driving distance to the beaches at Sauntan, Woolacombe and Croyde.

The pitches were all quite muddy after the very wet recent weather, with the wardens offering straw to put over the worst bits but advising that units be placed over the mud to keep the grass areas protected.

The washing up area and toilets were good - barely any queuing even at busy times.

My two boys (aged 7 and 9) had a great time paddling in the stream which goes along one side of the field (take plenty of clothes as they will get wet!) The stream is child's waist deep in places so take care particularly with toddlers. The play area in this field consists of a zip wire, a rocking horse and a slide so not much to keep younger or even older children busy.
Generally, this is a great site, the wardens and reception staff are really friendly and helpful. I think I arrived expecting luxury based on the price but actually, while everything was clean and well managed, the price reflects the market rate for this area rather than particular luxury at the site.

The traffic noise is loud, as is the sound of the babbling brook, but after the first couple of nights I stopped noticing it.”  August 2011

“Our second visit at this lovely site.

We found all the staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent facilities and very well kept grounds and gardens. Large pitches on bowling green grass.  Heavy rain on arrival and the exmoor drizzle on departure. We were unlucky but still a nice stay. Only minus point is the road noise but we soon got used to this as background noise. We stay here because it is very sheltered for our folding camper compared to the windy coastline.”  August 2011

“I booked this site over the phone, when staff were very polite and helpful. My booking was confirmed by email. I arrived in the rain to be received by welcome and helpful staff, who showed me to my pitch.

The site is very secluded being down a fairly lengthy track and surrounded by a full belt of full grown trees. All the tracks in the site are fully hard surfaced with tar macadam. One criticism is the precision with which we were told where to pitch our tent (it seemed to me to be to the nearest foot). It was indeed over the top of the previous tent shadow, that is on top of the half dead grass. As this had been going on all season, this was now a patch of mud. I would have thought it better to move the pitches slightly each time or to have given the camper some latitude so that the grass could have had time to recover. On the other side of the coin however I did like the hedges that separated the pitches, giving a level of seclusion, I don't normally get to enjoy.
The shower / toilet block was one of the most spacious and one of the cleanest I have ever enjoyed, with an endless supply of luxurious hot water.
The site has its own café and had fresh bread every morning to order. However it did run out of bacon. I didn’t try the breakfast – but it smelled good!
The site is amazingly secluded bearing in mind it is right next to the main road from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe, but traffic noise is still audible (particularly early in the morning).”  August 2011

“Absolutely first class site in all aspects.

The staff are the best I've ever encountered, helpful, friendly and very hardworking. The site was perfect with large, flat pitches and spotless toilets and showers.
All the beaches in and around Woolacombe and Ilfracombe are within easy travelling distance.
Devon in August is a busy place but Hidden Valley manages to remain quiet and peaceful. We would certainly return without question.”  Pete Mason, August 2011

“Just spent the best holiday ever here.

We loved it so much we stayed an extra 4 days. It's so peaceful, the birds and the babbling river gently woke us each morning. The forest walks were fabulous all your strains and stresses will vanish. There are lovely grounds to walk around and a peaceful lake to sit by, and although we didn't see them I'm sure we heard otters playing and whistling at night. There are 2 play areas for the kids and they both have zip wires climbing frames etc. The facilities are brilliant lovely showers plenty of hot water and VERY clean, you can even have a bath if you prefer to. Also a very useful launderette. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming we were really made very welcome, and so was our dog Ruby. It's really easy to find and near to so many attractions in North Devon, having said that we only left the site 3 times in 10 days. We are so looking forward to going back. There is a bit of road noise but hey who doesn't live near a road and you don't really notice it, but it's only fair to mention it.”  Sheila Drew, June 2011
